About The Role
This opportunity is based in Geelong or Ballarat. Regional Victoria is undergoing rapid growth due to new housing developments, major infrastructure projects, and Renewable Energy Zones, particularly in the Barwon South West and Grampians regions. These areas are pivotal to this expansion, and the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) plays a vital role in ensuring the transportation networks adequately support housing, economic progress, and renewable energy initiatives.
The Transport Planner leads integrated planning efforts connecting land use and transport across the region. This involves collaboration with government bodies, local councils, industries, and communities. Core duties encompass reviewing planning projects, advising on transportation requirements, juggling multiple workstreams, compiling reports and briefings, assisting with planning panels and stakeholder engagement, and ensuring that transport planning aligns with sustainability, inclusivity, and governmental policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate planning projects and provide expert advice on transportation needs.
- Effectively manage concurrent workstreams to support integrated planning.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and briefings to inform decision-making.
- Support planning panels and facilitate stakeholder engagement processes.
- Ensure transport planning strategies are connected, sustainable, inclusive, and comply with government policies.

Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a tertiary qualification in land use planning and/or transport planning is required.
- A minimum of two years’ professional experience in land use and/or transport planning is mandatory.
- A valid Driver's Licence is essential.
