About the Tax Division
Our Tax division offers a broad spectrum of services including VAT, Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, Personal Tax, Global Mobility, and Employment Tax compliance and advisory support. The team frequently engages in transactional advisory work across multiple sectors, addressing matters like demergers, restructuring, acquisitions, and disposals impacting companies and individuals.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
We are seeking a driven and self-assured Transfer Pricing Manager or Assistant Manager to join our expanding Corporate Tax Team in Manchester. This position involves supporting the Transfer Pricing Director and Corporate Tax Partners in managing end-to-end transfer pricing advisory and compliance tasks. The role demands ownership of delivery, delegation to junior team members, and collaboration across our offices with occasional travel between Manchester and London.
- Design and plan transfer pricing policies for diverse transactions including tangible goods, services, intellectual property, and financing across various business models.
- Oversee implementation of these policies, including financial and operational testing and providing input on legally drafted agreements.
- Evaluate intercompany financing arrangements critically.
- Prepare and review comprehensive transfer pricing documentation such as benchmarking studies, Master Files, Local Files, and Country-by-Country Reports.
- Conduct thin capitalization assessments and transfer pricing risk reviews for cross-border activities, offering remediation guidance.
- Handle Advance Pricing Agreement and Mutual Agreement Procedure cases and manage disputes with tax authorities.
- Maintain awareness of broader tax issues related to transfer pricing such as withholding taxes, VAT/customs duties, and risks connected to permanent establishments.
- Participate in an entrepreneurial team culture that emphasizes accelerated learning, project management exposure, and client relationship development, supported by ongoing training and coaching.
Client and Team Management
- Coordinate with wider tax, audit, accounting, and other service teams to schedule work and meet deadlines.
- Manage client relationships proactively, ensuring timely delivery and high service levels.
- Oversee work-in-progress and billing activities to secure commercial recoveries.
- Supervise junior team members, providing guidance and feedback.
- Uphold the firm’s risk management protocols and contribute to administrative duties as needed.
- Engage in special projects including tender proposals, tax audit support, due diligence, staff training on transfer pricing, tax authority dispute resolutions, coordination with PKF International, and marketing initiatives.

Candidate Profile
- Proven transfer pricing experience gained in either practice or industry environments.
- Solid comprehension of the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines.
- Ability to convey complex matters clearly to non-specialists.
- Up-to-date technical proficiency across various business sectors.
- Capability to manage projects within budget and time constraints.
- Strong report writing skills, including preparation of Master Files, Local Files, and contributions to due diligence and tax audit documentation.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with clients, colleagues, and the global PKF network.
