Train Assembly Technician - Mechanical/Electrical

Overview

CAF Rail Australia is seeking a Train Assembly Technician with expertise in mechanical or electrical assembly to join the Mindyarra Maintenance Centre in Dubbo, NSW. This role involves assembling vehicles and fitting components at various stages along the production line, contributing to manufacturing rail vehicles for a prestigious regional rail replacement project.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately assemble mechanical and electrical components on the production line following specifications and procedures, including installation of safety-critical parts using various tools and equipment.
• Support initiatives to improve quality, productivity, and processes through lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
• Identify, document, and report faults; conduct quality inspections to maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to Company housekeeping policies.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment as per maintenance schedules.
• Collaborate as part of a team to troubleshoot problems and drive process enhancements; lead assembly teams when required.
• Undertake relevant training to develop skills and support multiple team areas; mentor and train junior members on job requirements and processes.
• Comply with risk assessments and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Accurately complete all manual and electronic records in a timely manner.
• Continuously seek improvements to efficiency and cost savings and communicate recommendations to management.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of two years' experience in a similar mechanical or electrical assembly role.
• Holds a relevant tertiary qualification or certified accreditation in Mechanical or Electrical fields, or possesses equivalent experience in related sectors such as engineering, automotive, rail construction, manufacturing, agriculture, electrical/electronics, civil construction, or similar.
• Proficient with office productivity software, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
