Role Overview
As a Trailer Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing HGV trailers to ensure our customers' fleets remain safe and roadworthy. Our team functions as a collaborative unit, providing hands-on assistance and mutual support to address any challenges promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, servicing, and Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) on HGV trailers.
- Diagnose and repair issues related to braking systems, suspension, electrical components, and bodywork.
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs comply with DVSA/VOSA regulations.
- Accurately document all service and repair activities to maintain up-to-date fleet service histories.
- Collaborate with the wider workshop team to keep trailers operational and minimize downtime.
Candidate Profile
- Proven mechanical experience in roles such as trailer mechanic, HGV technician, diesel mechanic, fitter, or heavy vehicle engineer.
- Possession of or working towards IRTEC certification is advantageous.
- Holds a Heavy Vehicle Level 3 qualification or has equivalent extensive hands-on experience.
- Demonstrates a proactive attitude with a strong focus on safety and workmanship quality.
Location Details
This position is based at TIP's Coatbridge Workshop, located in North Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Employment and Compensation
This is a full-time opportunity requiring a 45-hour work week, with compensation at £19.00 per hour.
