Overview
Join a high-performing trading operations team supporting the Oil, Gas, and Carbon sectors. This role ensures precise daily trade processing, reconciliations, margin management, and contract/invoice administration, maintaining seamless trading, settlement, and workflow operations. Act as the connection point between internal teams and external partners, promptly resolving exceptions and upholding strong controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile and validate trades, costs, and fees between the Electronic Trading Risk Management (ETRM) system and counterparties, brokerages, and exchanges.
- Generate, issue, and manage trade confirmations, contracts, and invoices while addressing mismatches and amendments.
- Validate and approve payments related to brokers' invoices.
- Oversee and supervise the delivery and payment processes for Carbon Emission Credits.
- Manage carbon credit inventories across various registries and reconcile these with internal systems.
- Monitor exposure to counterparty and credit risks including limits, collateral management, and margin calls.
- Administer exchange activities on platforms such as ICE, CME, and SGX, including managing trading limits, fees, and user setups.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on new business product initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal control standards and external regulatory requirements.
Key Competencies and Skills
- At least two years of experience in trading operations or middle/back office roles within oil, commodities, or related markets.
- Highly collaborative, with a strong emphasis on controls and ongoing process improvement.
- Excellent reconciliation skills and meticulous attention to detail with proven ability to identify and resolve booking and profit/loss discrepancies.
- Proficient in Excel including formula-based spreadsheets, lookup functions, and effective reconciliation methodologies; adept at creating and adhering to checklists.
- Familiarity with trade/order management systems, exchange procedures, and margining processes.
- Strong communication skills, dependable under pressure, demonstrates proactive task ownership and timely escalation of issues.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities within split-day schedules to meet stringent end-of-day deadlines.
Experience Requirements
- Sound commercial understanding of Oil, LNG, and Carbon trading conventions, with basic knowledge of carbon credit flows and OTC bilateral mechanics.
- Experience working with carbon registries and familiarity with carbon contract workflows.
- Prior exposure to OSN/Dubai partial structures and contract generation for physical deliveries.
- Interactions with regional banks and custodians, as well as invoicing and ERP systems usage experience.
- Basic skills in scripting or data automation (such as Power Query, VBA, or similar) to enhance recurring workflow efficiency.
