Position Overview
Best Doors, an Australian-owned and operated company, is dedicated to providing quality products and services across a range of markets. Known for its family-like corporate culture and commitment to customer satisfaction, Best Doors is seeking a dependable and motivated Trade Assistant to join their team supporting Garage Door Installation and Service Technicians throughout Cairns and Far North Queensland.
This role is ideal for those who enjoy practical, hands-on tasks and working outdoors within a thriving industry. The Trade Assistant will gain extensive experience related to installation and maintenance of garage roller and panel doors, industrial roller shutters, automatic door and gate openers, along with other specialty products at client locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist technicians during the installation of garage doors and openers
- Handle loading, unloading, and transportation of materials and equipment to various sites
- Carry out basic maintenance and repair duties under guidance
- Assemble panel doors on-site to facilitate installations
- Operate hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work sites
- Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety standards and ensure quality workmanship
- Engage with customers professionally
- Contribute support to the team to uphold high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Possession of a current C Class Driver Licence
- Forklift licence (LF) coupled with experience in forklift operation
- Ability to skillfully use various power tools and deliver quality work
- Positive attitude, readiness to learn practically on the job, and strong work ethic
- Physical fitness and agility suitable for installation tasks
- Effective communication and customer service capabilities
- Team-oriented with ability to collaborate efficiently
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensing or experience operating scissor lifts or elevated work platforms (EWP) highly regarded
- Possession of White Construction Card is advantageous
- Passion for hands-on, practical work
- Willingness to travel and work across multiple sites
- Strong initiative, self-motivation, and proactive work approach
