Job description
Role Overview
This role involves the upkeep of cutting utensils by ensuring they remain sharp and sufficiently stocked. In addition to maintenance duties, the position requires training staff on proper handling and care of utensils consistent with company safety standards and USDA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Sharpen and rotate all necessary cutting utensils regularly.
- Gather, clean, and store knives and similar utensils for use at production line startup.
- Maintain all equipment used for sharpening, such as stones and buffing wheels.
- Conduct daily documentation of equipment inventories, either written or electronic.
- Collaborate as an active team member, embracing team programs, communication, and policies; contribute to practices that promote operational excellence across the team.
- Report any issues affecting team cohesion to leadership, supporting solutions that enhance organizational synergy.
- Stay informed and compliant with company operational systems, including quality, security, and policy adherence, and share improvement suggestions.
- Undertake additional duties essential to supporting organizational objectives.
Physical and Technical Requirements
- Continuous standing and walking required throughout the shift.
- Use of personal protective equipment such as waterproof gloves, sleeves, slip-resistant footwear, ear protection, kevlar, and safety glasses is mandatory.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred experience with poultry or food processing industries.
Education and Skills
- Basic English comprehension and fundamental mathematical skills are required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic computer skills or willingness to learn computer usage.
- Effective communication abilities and sound decision-making skills.

Application hours are Monday and Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm and Tuesday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
