Tool Maker

Overview

This role involves responsibility for producing, assembling, fitting, maintaining, and modifying plastic injection moulds and their components in accordance with engineering blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble injection mould parts including inserts, cores, cavities, slides, lifters, ejector elements, and mould bases.
• Operate standard toolroom machinery such as milling machines, lathes, drills, grinders, and related equipment.
• Conduct mould assembly, fitting, spotting, polishing, and make corrections following trial runs.
• Interpret 2D engineering drawings, including fundamental geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Perform precise measurements using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and similar instruments.
• Detect and resolve issues related to mould fitting, alignment, ejection, parting lines, and dimensional discrepancies.
• Handle mould maintenance tasks, repairs, modifications, and resolve breakdowns.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams during mould development and improvements.
• Ensure machining of components meets dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping, toolroom discipline, and follow machine safety protocols.
• Record details of completed work, measurements, corrections, and adjustments made to moulds.
• Support mould trial runs and implement necessary corrections based on results.
• Adhere to organizational quality procedures, work instructions, and safety standards.
• Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks within delivery schedules.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in the manufacturing of plastic injection moulds.
• Solid understanding of mould components and construction methods.
• Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings effectively.
• Familiarity with conventional toolroom machines operation.
• Strong fitting and assembly skills with precision.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve mould-related challenges.
• Experience in mould maintenance and modifications is advantageous.

Additional Information

Location: Chennai, Ambattur Industrial Estate.

Experience required ranges from 2 to 5 years in plastic injection mould or toolroom work.

Salary offered ranges from 18000 to 40000 INR per month.
