- Maintain and refresh network infrastructure models used in simulation and scheduling software such as OpenTrack and Service Planner.
- Create and verify network operating models supporting proposed infrastructure improvements and changes to rolling stock.
- Conduct scenario modeling and analysis to assist planning efforts for upgrades, modifications, and timetable revisions.
- Summarize and communicate modeling findings and suggestions clearly for decision-makers.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to address operational and customer challenges, ensuring the robustness and suitability of timetables.
- Review and approve new or revised timetables, recommending improvements to optimize outcomes for all involved parties.
Skills and Experience
- Strong analytical abilities with experience in data interpretation, analysis, and reporting.
- Background in planning and scheduling within large infrastructure settings.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills, capable of delivering results within set timelines and standards.
- A passion for making a positive impact within complex, customer-focused environments.
Work Approach and Attributes
- Commitment to prioritizing safety and well-being in work activities.
- Clear and adaptable communication tailored to varying audiences.
- Active collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to remain composed and solution-focused when facing uncertainty or challenges.
- Efficient time management and delivering quality outcomes.
Additional Requirements
- Adherence to rail safety system standards and all statutory obligations.
- Ability to successfully clear ongoing drug and alcohol tests.
Qualifications and Desirable Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in technical fields such as engineering, transportation planning, or equivalent industrial experience.
- Familiarity with train timetable management, network modeling, and simulation tools like OpenTrack is advantageous.
Benefits
- Competitive salary package including 4% employer KiwiSaver contributions.
- Opportunities for ongoing professional development.
- Access to benefits from NZ Rail Staff Welfare Trust including holiday homes, medical assistance, and discounted travel.
- Membership in a workplace culture emphasizing diversity, inclusion, safety, sustainability, and continual improvement.
