Tilesetter

Job Overview

This position requires hands-on tile setting work for both commercial and residential projects. The work must be performed at the specified location in Concord, Ontario, Canada.

Languages and Education

• Proficiency in English
• Completion of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

Candidates should have between 2 and under 3 years of relevant experience in tile setting.

Responsibilities

• Measure and prepare surfaces to be tiled accurately.
• Mix and apply mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives with hand tools.
• Place tiles securely and apply pressure to ensure firm adhesion.
• Align and straighten tiles to maintain quality appearance.
• Cut and fit tiles around obstacles using both hand and power cutting tools.
• Fill grout joints between tiles and remove excess material.
• Replace broken or damaged tiles as needed.
• Create decorative mosaic tile walls, murals, and floors.
• Construct underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets to support tiles.
• Cut, polish, and install marble and granite surfaces.
• Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces.
• Install tile strips as required.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Work is physically demanding involving handling heavy materials.
• Tasks include frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling.
• A high degree of attention to detail and hand-eye coordination are essential.
