Tendering Engineer

About the Position

URC Construction Pvt. Ltd. seeks a skilled Civil Tender Engineer to join its Tendering & Estimation team at the Regional Office in Chennai. This role demands solid expertise in civil estimation, Bill of Quantities (BOQ) development, quantity take-off, cost analysis, vendor quotation scrutiny, and the complete tender documentation process within building construction and EPC projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end process of civil tendering and estimation from initial tender enquiry through to final submission.
• Review tender documents, drawings, scopes of work, BOQ, and client requirements in detail.
• Generate and validate BOQs, conduct quantity take-offs, and perform precise cost estimations and rate analyses.
• Prepare comprehensive project costings and tender proposals based on technical drawings, specifications, and prevailing market pricing.
• Solicit, assess, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations, creating commercial comparison reports.
• Collaborate extensively with vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal departments to fulfill tender specifications.
• Develop detailed comparative statements, rate analysis documentation, estimation summaries, and complete tender paperwork.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities while ensuring pricing remains competitive without compromising project integrity.
• Support timely preparation and submission of both technical and commercial tender proposals.
• Analyze drawings for discrepancies, scope omissions, quantity deviations, and required clarifications during tender evaluation.
• Coordinate closely with execution, procurement, planning, and commercial teams to ensure accurate and aligned costing and estimations.
• Maintain organized records of all tender enquiries, quotations, estimates, and submissions.
• Participate actively in pre-bid meetings, clarification discussions, and negotiations as needed.
• Confirm the completeness and accuracy of all tender-related documents prior to submission.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in civil quantity take-off, BOQ creation, estimation, and costing techniques.
• Strong grasp of rate analysis and understanding of construction materials and labor cost structures.
• Competency in interpreting civil engineering drawings, technical specifications, and tender documentation.
• Familiarity with building construction and EPC project environments.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and estimation software tools.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD for drawings interpretation and preparation.
• Excellent analytical abilities, interpersonal coordination skills, negotiation capabilities, and clear communication.
• Ability to operate autonomously and effectively manage multiple tenders within strict deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to large-scale building construction and EPC projects is advantageous.
• Experienced candidates in pre-contract tendering and cost estimation preferred.
• Background handling commercial comparisons, vendor and subcontractor quotes, and tender submissions adds value.

• Location: Regional Office, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
• Experience Range: 5 to 10 years.
• Preferred Qualifications: BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Civil Engineering.
