Technical Writer

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer with a background in Documentation Architecture or Systems Analysis to innovate and lead the development of next-gen technical documentation powered by AI, automation, and integration into the software development lifecycle (SDLC). This role entails designing and executing scalable processes that transform engineering outputs—such as epics, user stories, pull requests, code changes, architecture decisions, test results, and release information—into comprehensive, well-structured documentation ready for publication.

The chosen candidate will serve as a critical liaison connecting Engineering, Product Management, and Technical Publications teams, ensuring the knowledge generated during product development is effectively captured and utilized. Leveraging skills in technical writing, systems thinking, and AI-enhanced workflows, this role empowers technical writers to prioritize accuracy and clarity while substantially reducing manual content creation tasks.

Additionally, the position includes active involvement as a technical writer working within an XML/DITA-based content management platform to gain practical insights into authoring requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine documentation processes tightly integrated with the software development lifecycle.
• Establish strategies to gather, organize, and reuse data from tools like GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and architecture repositories.
• Identify and implement opportunities for AI and automation to produce draft documents, release notes, feature write-ups, and other documentation materials.
• Partner with Engineering, Product Management, QA, DevOps, and Technical Publications to define documentation needs and streamline information flows.
• Draft roadmaps and concrete plans to drive documentation automation projects.
• Set governance policies, quality benchmarks, and validation protocols for AI-created content.
• Evaluate current documentation processes and recommend enhancements to improve overall efficiency, uniformity, and scalability.
• Assist in the assessment, selection, and deployment of documentation and knowledge management tools.
• Define performance metrics to track documentation quality, scope, automation success, and content reuse effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in technical writing, communication, systems analysis, or knowledge management.
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies, particularly Agile, and familiarity with source control, pull requests, CI/CD pipelines, and release management workflows.
• Experience collaborating with software engineers and using Git-based repositories.
• Capability to analyze complex systems and conceptualize scalable documentation practices.
• Effective stakeholder management and strong communication abilities.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted content generation and automation technologies.
• Proficiency in translating technical subject matter into clear, organized documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Docs-as-Code approaches and automation in documentation.
• Understanding of APIs, software architecture, and modern development workflows.
• Practical experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, GitHub, Confluence, or related platforms.
• Awareness of large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI governance concepts.
• Experience in leading documentation process transformations involving multiple teams.
