The Opportunity

This full-time, permanent role is based in Canberra or Melbourne, with flexibility to work remotely up to three days per week after initial training. As a Technical Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting Case Management teams by offering technical guidance and training specifically aligned with the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act). Your efforts will aid in the administration of the Act and promote effective recovery outcomes for employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical duties focusing mainly on reconsiderations, appeals, and reviews related to compensation entitlements.
  • Deliver technical advice, training, and support to Case Managers and other stakeholders, grounded in thorough knowledge of the legislation, case law, and risk management principles.
  • Coach, train, and develop Case Managers to ensure a superior customer experience aligned with performance standards.
  • Operate within legislative and regulatory frameworks to maximise stakeholder outcomes.
  • Apply prudent risk management to guarantee compliance and sustainable decision-making.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven expertise in managing claims portfolios and providing technical advice and training under the SRC Act.
  • Experienced in dispute resolution, negotiation, and mediation best practices.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skillful in developing training programs and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and supporting Case Managers within workers compensation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong stakeholder management and sound decision-making within a Workers Compensation context.
