Job description
Company Overview
Lumilens is pioneering critical photonics infrastructure to advance the future of AI supercomputing. Their innovations span chip-to-chip optical interconnects and scalable photonic engines, aimed at enabling computing that is significantly faster, cooler, and more efficient. Supported by leading investors like Mayfield and led by experienced industry veterans, Lumilens is at the forefront of revolutionary technology development.
Role Summary
The Technical Project Manager role is a senior, high-impact position within the Silicon Operations team. This role is charged with overseeing the complete execution of complex process development and manufacturing readiness initiatives across photonics, advanced packaging, optical module assembly, and collaborations with external manufacturing partners. Collaboration with internal engineering units, OSAT partners, quality assurance, and operations teams is crucial to drive process milestones from development and design of experiments (DOE) through qualification, pilot production, and readiness for high-volume manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure comprehensive end-to-end process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), design for manufacturing (DFM), and process controllability.
- Manage schedules encompassing process development, DOE, qualification phases, pilot runs, and transition to high-volume manufacturing release.
- Engage with process engineers to define specific process requirements and track delivery and performance.
- Coordinate with OSAT quality assurance to guarantee site/process adherence to quality and reliability standards, including line and process audits, process control, change management, and Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronics, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or related fields; advanced qualifications advantageous.
- At least eight years of hands-on process engineering experience in semiconductor packaging, optoelectronics, optical transceiver/module assembly, microelectronics, surface mount technology (SMT), or precision automation manufacturing, preferably in high-volume production settings.
- Deep technical expertise in core assembly processes such as die attach/die bonding, wire bonding, active optical alignment, optical module assembly, dispensing, curing, bonding, or comprehensive line integration.
- Established track record managing process development from concept through qualification, pilot builds, production release, and high-volume ramp-up.
- Strong knowledge of process FMEA, design for manufacturability/DFx, control plans, change control, MRB, process auditing, and quality/reliability requirements within manufacturing or OSAT environments.
- Proficient in DOE, statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis (Cpk), yield analytics, defect Pareto charts, root cause failure analysis, and structured problem-solving methods such as 8D or DMAIC.
- Experienced in outlining process windows, equipment specifications, operating recipes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, qualification plans, and production control methodologies.
- Ability to collaborate efficiently with cross-disciplinary teams including process engineers, design engineers, manufacturing, quality, equipment engineering, suppliers, and external partners.
- Strong leadership in guiding technical discussions, building consensus, and making evidence-based decisions under tight schedules and ramp-up pressures.
- Detail-oriented, hands-on professional comfortable working in fast-growing startup or scale-up environments where processes and priorities evolve rapidly.
- Exceptional communication skills to articulate technical findings, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to both engineering teams and leadership.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive remuneration package and benefits
- Prospects for career progression
- Opportunity to collaborate with a world-class team solving state-of-the-art challenges
- A cooperative and innovative workplace culture
