Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Officer to join our Quality team at our Wiri manufacturing facility in Auckland. This newly established position plays a key role in enhancing our technical capabilities, ensuring compliance with the highest standards in quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction. The role involves hands-on technical responsibilities including analytical testing, method development, validation procedures, managing equipment calibration, quality investigations, and championing continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct analytical tests and develop or validate new methods to ensure product quality.
- Oversee calibration activities and support quality investigations to resolve issues.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure quality excellence.
- Drive data analysis and problem-solving initiatives to support compliance and quality improvements.
- Assist in the adoption and implementation of new technologies and analytical approaches.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is inquisitive, analytical, and focused on providing solutions. They show enthusiasm for quality assurance and continual enhancement in a fast-moving FMCG environment. Collaboration and effective stakeholder communication are key strengths required to succeed in this role.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field.
- Relevant experience in Quality, Technical, or Laboratory roles within FMCG, food, beverage, dairy, or comparable manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with quality standards and systems such as ISO17025, FSSC22000, GMP, and HACCP.
- Proficiency in analytical testing, including method development and validation; experience with HPLC is highly valued.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel capabilities and experience with data analytics or reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across multiple functional teams.
- Commitment to accuracy, compliance, and ongoing process improvement.
Preferred But Not Mandatory
- Knowledge of customer quality standards, audit procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of sanitation programs, Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems, or diagnostics for predictive maintenance.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies or project management.
- Ability to train and mentor team members.
