About Two Point Studios
Established in 2016, Two Point Studios specializes in creating immersive and approachable simulation games known as "little people games". Following the acclaimed success of Two Point Hospital in 2018 and Two Point Campus in 2022, the studio continues to build its unique gaming universe called "Two Point County" as part of the Sega family. The studio culture emphasizes creativity, flexibility, and a healthy work-life balance, with a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Role Overview
We seek a skilled and autonomous Technical Artist to enhance the visual quality of Two Point Museum and upcoming titles. This role acts as a bridge between art and programming disciplines, focusing on streamlining workflows, creating shaders, and solving visual technical issues. While 5+ years of industry experience is preferred, outstanding candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and support custom automation tools for the Art team using Python (for Blender/Maya) and C# (for Unity editor extensions) to improve productivity.
- Collaborate closely with art and animation teams to creatively utilize shaders and resolve technical challenges related to mesh deformation and rigging.
- Create and maintain visually compelling, efficient shaders consistent with the game’s artistic style.
- Identify and address pipeline bottlenecks, optimize art assets such as models, textures, and lighting, ensuring smooth performance on target platforms.
- Produce clear and user-friendly documentation for tools and workflows, and mentor colleagues who seek to develop their technical art expertise.
- Engage in research and development by staying informed on industry trends and exploring new technologies to enhance development processes.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in developing tools using Python scripts for digital content creation applications like Blender or Maya and C# for Unity editor extensions.
- Strong background in shader programming, including knowledge of HLSL and node-based shader editors.
- Ability to produce thorough and comprehensible technical documentation tailored for artists without a technical background.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts simply and working across various disciplines.
- Minimum of five years' experience in the gaming industry or equivalent exceptional proficiency.
Preferred but Not Mandatory
- Experience with Blender Geometry Nodes for procedural content or tool creation.
- Familiarity with Unity’s Universal Render Pipeline (URP).
- Experience optimizing game performance for console platforms such as Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch.
Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace that values diversity and the advancement of underrepresented groups. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences, ensuring everyone can bring their authentic selves to work.
