Role Overview

The Tax Associate position is a full-time, on-site role at the Kinondoni Municipal office. Responsibilities include preparing and verifying tax computations and returns for both individuals and companies while ensuring strict adherence to Tanzanian tax legislation and timely submissions. The role entails supporting tax compliance efforts such as maintaining accurate documentation, aiding audits, and addressing queries from tax authorities and clients alike.

Daily tasks involve researching tax-related matters, interpreting applicable tax laws and regulations, and creating detailed reports or summaries for internal stakeholders and clients. Collaborating with team members on client projects, staying informed of tax regulation updates, and contributing to process optimizations aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery are also key functions.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of Tanzanian Tax Law and general tax principles.
• Hands-on experience or formal training in tax compliance and preparation, with strong capabilities in document management and accurate filings.
• Good grasp of financial fundamentals such as accounting basics, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail and aptitude for interpreting legal texts.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, capable of simplifying tax concepts for clients without a technical background.
• Competence with standard office software, preferably with familiarity in tax or accounting software.
• Able to work on location in Kinondoni Municipal, manage various deadlines, and function well within team settings.
• Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related discipline; progress or possession of professional tax-related certifications is a plus.
