Job description

About Us

Seccl is an innovative embedded investment platform owned by Octopus, dedicated to making investing accessible and efficient. We power leading fintechs, banks, advisers, and wealth firms across the UK, serving nearly a million investors, and are expanding into Europe. Backed by Octopus, a reputable private investment group, both Seccl and Octopus uphold B Corp certification, embodying a commitment to blending profit with purpose.

Role Overview

This hybrid position is based either in our Holborn, London, or George Street, Edinburgh office. As a Talent Partner on our team reporting to the Talent Lead, you will play a direct and hands-on role in recruiting high-caliber candidates, primarily supporting Product and Engineering teams. You will manage recruitment from role inception to hire, while also assisting with other teams as priorities evolve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment process for multiple roles, particularly within Product and Engineering, while remaining adaptable to support other teams.
  • Develop rich candidate pipelines through direct sourcing, agency coordination, innovative search strategies, and effective candidate engagement.
  • Accelerate hiring workflows by identifying and resolving obstacles, maintaining momentum for candidates and hiring teams.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and leadership, offering market insight and evidence-based recruitment guidance.
  • Uphold high hiring standards and foster an inclusive, seamless candidate experience without overly complex procedures.
  • Leverage hiring data and insights to enhance recruitment processes, sharing actionable feedback within the People team.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated experience handling full-cycle recruitment for multiple active roles in dynamic, scaling environments.
  • Strong expertise in recruiting Product and Engineering talent, with technical acumen and labor market knowledge; equally passionate about non-technical roles.
  • Proficient in direct sourcing, capable of identifying, engaging, and nurturing relationships with top candidates.
  • Highly organized, delivery-driven, and proactive, adept at maintaining momentum with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, adapting rapidly to shifting business priorities.
  • Skilled at providing constructive challenge and pragmatic advice to hiring managers, facilitating progress.
  • Flexible to recruit beyond core specialisms as required; experience in fast-paced or scale-up companies is advantageous.

Exclusions

  • This role requires active recruitment delivery rather than purely strategic or project-based tasks.
  • The work environment demands adaptability to frequent changes in priorities and processes.
  • Recruitment scope will span multiple specialisms, not confined to one area.
  • Strong partnership means enabling hiring managers to decide and advance hiring actions, rather than ownership of final decisions.
  • Role emphasizes proactive sourcing and pipeline generation over reliance on inbound applications or external agencies.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary ranging from £55,000 to £65,000, with annual reviews, plus 6% employer pension and life assurance.
  • 27 days of holiday plus bank holidays, birthday off, and paid dependent leave.
  • Two paid volunteering days annually.
  • Opportunity to work abroad for up to six weeks per year.
  • Recognition program "Secclbrate" with flexible rewards including extra pay, additional leave, and enhanced learning budgets.
  • One-month paid sabbatical after eight years of service.
  • Private medical insurance through AXA Health.
  • Enhanced parental leave.
  • MacBook and up to £500 for home office setup.
  • Annual £750 learning budget.
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives including free therapy via Wellness Cloud and mental health support with Headspace.
  • Financial wellness perks such as Octopus Money, Share Incentive Plan, and will writing assistance via Octopus Legacy.
  • Access to Perkbox for discounts and perks.
  • Cycle to Work scheme and Octopus Electric Vehicle Leasing options.

Culture and Inclusion

Seccl fosters a people-centered environment valuing trust, openness, curiosity, and diverse perspectives. Employees are encouraged to challenge existing practices, innovate, and take ownership of their contributions.

Interview Process

  • Initial screening with the Talent Lead.
  • Second interview including the Head of People and Talent Lead featuring a case study or scenario assessment of technical skills.
  • Final 45-minute culture interview conducted by two key stakeholders.

Diversity Statement

We are committed to building an inclusive, diverse workforce and welcome applicants regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristics. We encourage applications even if you don't meet every requirement.
