About Compass Education

Join Compass Education and contribute to innovating school management technology that enhances the experience of students, teachers, and parents. Our platform supports over 5,000 schools primarily in Australia, with a team of more than 300 passionate individuals dedicated to advancing education through technology.

Role Overview

We are seeking our inaugural dedicated Talent Acquisition Specialist to manage the entire recruitment cycle. You will collaborate closely with hiring managers across the organization to secure exceptional talent that drives the growth of our edtech solutions, making meaningful improvements to educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment including job intake, sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiations, and closing across all departments.
  • Administer our ATS (Workable), maintaining job ads, candidate pipelines, interview tools, offer documentation, and regular recruitment analytics.
  • Develop proactive talent pools especially for challenging and recurring hires, moving beyond reactive hiring practices.
  • Work with hiring managers to establish role criteria, fair and consistent interview panels, and assessment methods aligned with our values.
  • Ensure an outstanding candidate experience by managing timely communication, smooth interviews, and seamless transition to onboarding.
  • Build and enhance Compass’s employer brand through compelling careers content, social media presence, and positive messaging about our culture and mission.
  • Analyze and report recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, sourcing channels, conversion rates, and diversity of candidate slates to inform continuous process improvements.
  • Partner with People & Culture colleagues to aid workforce planning and ensure smooth onboarding processes.
  • Manage relationships with recruitment agencies with a strategic focus on minimizing external dependency.
  • Stay informed on recruiting trends in technology and education sectors to keep Compass competitive in attracting talent.

Candidate Profile

  • 2 to 4 years of experience managing end-to-end recruitment, ideally as a sole talent acquisition resource in a scaling organization.
  • Practical expertise with ATS platforms such as Workable.
  • Proficient in multi-channel sourcing including LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, Seek, and direct outreach; capable of building talent pipelines from scratch.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence and guide hiring managers and senior leaders.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader People & Culture team.
  • Data savvy, able to collect, interpret and communicate recruitment metrics to leadership.
  • Experience recruiting in the technology, SaaS, or edtech space is advantageous but not required.
  • Passionate about the mission of transforming school management technology to benefit education communities.

Why Work at Compass?

  • Opportunity to establish the Talent Acquisition function from the ground up offering real ownership.
  • A supportive, close-knit People & Culture team where your contributions are fully recognized by leadership.
  • Flexible hybrid work model based at our Melbourne office.
  • Be part of a mission-driven company dedicated to positive impacts in education.

Benefits

  • Collaborate with passionate and adaptable colleagues committed to shaping education's future.
  • Flexible work culture to help balance your professional and personal life.
  • Learning and development programs to support your growth and success.
  • Parental leave available for both primary and secondary caregivers.
  • Access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Program via multiple channels for personal support.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Working With Children Check.
  • Verification of unrestricted right to work in Australia (citizenship, passport, or birth certificate).
  • Successful completion of a National Police Check.
