Job description
Overview
The Fitter/Tailor plays a vital role in enhancing the customer experience at Brooks Brothers by delivering expertly tailored garments. As part of the Alterations team, the individual provides specialized alterations and fabric knowledge promptly while ensuring excellent client service.
Responsibilities
- Meet personal productivity targets and support achieving overall store productivity goals.
- Perform sewing, measuring, hemming, and fitting tasks aligned with Brooks Brothers' approved standards.
- Utilize company systems effectively to maintain productivity.
- Deliver superior quality and customer service within set deadlines.
- Fix or replace defective garment components such as pockets, zippers, buttons, and linings.
- Adhere to corporate best practices, policies, and procedures as described in the Associate Handbook.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and orderly store environment.
- Collaborate with store staff for efficient workflow.
- Uphold the Brooks Brothers brand by modeling conduct, dress code, and legendary service standards.
- Embody company values including respect, integrity, teamwork, compassion, accountability, and inclusiveness.
Qualifications
- At least five years of tailoring experience.
- Strong understanding of clothing and shirt construction as well as fabric types.
- Background in retail or experience with custom clothing sales.
- Flexible scheduling availability including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.
- Good communication skills to engage with customers on the sales floor.
- Familiarity with specialized ordering tools, fabrics, and related software programs.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to consistently lift 5 to 10 pounds.
- Comfort with prolonged sitting and repetitive use of hands, arms, legs, and feet.
- Capability to lift, balance, stoop, and handle materials.
- Continuous use of hands and arms for material handling and manipulation.
- Sharp vision including close, distant, color, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation
The hourly pay ranges between $19.75 and $27.63.
