Supply Chain Specialist

Overview

This position requires managing comprehensive supply chain activities, including planning, sourcing, purchasing, supplier coordination, logistics, and inventory control to ensure parts and materials are available promptly and cost-effectively. The specialist will translate forecasted demands into actionable supply plans, track purchase orders and shipments, maintain accurate inventory records, support supplier relationships and contracts, and continuously seek improvements in stock turnover, warehouse efficiency, and overall supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert demand forecasts into short- to medium-term supply plans and relay these to the Parts Manager, serving as the main liaison with both local and international suppliers.
• Continuously analyze inventory levels to enhance sourcing strategies, availability, and turnover rates.
• Conduct studies on alternative sourcing options, initiate sourcing agreements, including outsourcing and local procurement activities.
• Track purchase order progress, maintain weekly communications with international suppliers to monitor shipment status, and ensure adherence to quality and delivery standards.
• Manage freight carrier contracts and oversee shipment logistics domestically and internationally.
• Generate and process purchase orders through the ERP system.
• Coordinate post-purchase processes, monitoring and logging defective or damaged materials from the inventory standpoint.
• Maintain comprehensive records and compile reports for inventory reconciliation.
• Support other planning and procurement tasks as necessary.
• Enhance warehouse operations by overseeing stock management, planning, and forecasting; evaluate stock demands relative to storage capacity and create development plans accordingly.
• Engage suppliers via email and telephone to nurture relationships, negotiate optimal pricing, and identify alternative sources as needed.
• Collaborate with the Parts Manager to secure the most cost-effective transportation methods for imports.
• Work closely with the Accounts department to ensure all purchase expenses are accurately recorded, discrepancies investigated, and product returns processed properly.
• Determine and negotiate the most beneficial purchasing packages with local suppliers focusing on quality, price, delivery terms, and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications in supply chain, procurement, inventory management, or logistics are advantageous.

Experience

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in supply planning, procurement, inventory management, logistics, or closely related supply chain roles.
• Practical experience working with both local and international suppliers and managing purchase orders, shipments, and inventory data.
• Familiarity with ERP systems along with experience preparing reports related to inventory, procurement, or supply planning.
• Previous experience in automotive parts, spare parts distribution, dealership environments, or similar high-SKU inventory management is preferred.
