Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Supply Chain & Procurement Lead to oversee procurement planning, merchandise coordination, replenishment activities, purchase order management, supplier engagement, and inventory decisions. This individual must skillfully blend product knowledge with numerical analysis to determine purchasing needs in terms of timing and quantity, considering factors such as sales trends, stock levels, incoming goods, customer demand, supplier lead times, profit margins, and budget constraints.

You will be leading a team responsible for sourcing products, analyzing restocking needs, preparing procurement paperwork, and reporting on inventory. This position demands active involvement: analyzing data, making sound commercial choices, delegating tasks, and ensuring accountability and follow-through.

Key Duties

  • Create monthly purchasing and category plans aligned with sales goals, inventory status, incoming freight, market demand, and budget availability.
  • Determine necessary quantities of new products and replenishment items by category.
  • Review and authorize initial and restocking purchase quantities detailed by SKU, size, color, and location.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of sales velocity, sell-through rates, stock coverage, reorder points, lead times, returns, margins, and seasonal factors.
  • Evaluate stock availability and coordinate possible transfers between Qatar and Dubai prior to approving purchases.
  • Collaborate with Finance to monitor and manage purchasing budgets, category allocations, committed orders, and available funds.
  • Authorize routine restocking, stock transfers, pilot product quantities, and purchase orders within designated limits.
  • Maintain transparency across all stages of purchase orders: draft, approved, in production, ready for shipment, shipped, partially received, and completed.
  • Inspect purchase orders for product specifics, quantities, pricing, payment terms, and delivery scheduling before confirmation.
  • Liaise closely with factories and suppliers on quotations, pricing, minimum order quantities, production timelines, quantities, and delivery deadlines.
  • Engage with the product sourcing and trend teams for new product opportunities, samples, product development, and supplier communications.
  • Track production progress to identify potential delays early and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Reconcile ordered, shipped, and received quantities to investigate discrepancies such as shortages or surpluses.
  • Evaluate supplier performance focusing on order accuracy, production lead time, quality, and delivery consistency.
  • Classify products as fast-moving, slow-moving, overstocked, or underperforming and decide appropriate purchasing or inventory responses.
  • Lead and manage employees who handle sourcing, replenishment, procurement documentation, and inventory reporting.
  • Set clear responsibilities, deadlines, track actions, and implement follow-up procedures within the department.
  • Deliver weekly reports covering purchasing activities, category performance, inventory risks, incoming orders, budget usage, and recommended actions.
  • Analyze significant variations in sales and categories and propose pragmatic corrective measures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Between 5 and 8 years of relevant exposure in supply chain, procurement, merchandise planning, buying, or category management roles.
  • Background in fashion retail, e-commerce, general retail, or similar product-focused sectors.
  • Expertise in category and purchasing planning, demand forecasting, and replenishment strategies.
  • Solid knowledge of sales velocity, stock coverage, reorder levels, safety stock, sell-through, and inventory turnover metrics.
  • Experience planning purchase quantities with granularity by SKU, size, color, and location.
  • Comprehensive experience managing the entire purchase order lifecycle and supplier relations.
  • Proven negotiation skills with suppliers on price, MOQ, payment terms, production schedule, and delivery timelines.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with ERP software and e-commerce sales or inventory systems.
  • Strong financial awareness concerning landed costs, profit margins, inventory values, and capital tied up in stock.
  • Previous leadership experience in directing teams, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and enforcing accountability.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Operations, Retail Management, or a related discipline.
  • Fluent English communication skills; Arabic is an asset.
  • Availability to work full-time on-site in Doha, Qatar.
