About the Role
The Supervisor of Stewards plays a critical role in directing and supporting the stewarding team to enhance cleaning operations efficiently. This includes monitoring water temperature and chemical levels to ensure they are appropriate for cleaning and recording these details accurately. The role supports banquet functions by assisting with plate setups and providing assistance to kitchen staff as required. Delivering supplies to cooks and maintaining adequate stock at banquet and buffet stations are also part of the duties. Steward supervisors are responsible for the operation and upkeep of cleaning equipment like dishwashing machines, pot-scrubbing stations, handwashing stations, and trash compactors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assist the stewarding team to improve cleaning efficiency.
- Ensure all cleaning parameters such as water temperature and chemical levels are maintained and documented.
- Support banquet operations, including plate setup and stock transportation.
- Assist kitchen personnel with various tasks by providing necessary items.
- Manage the use and maintenance of cleaning machinery and tools.
- Help in recruitment, training, scheduling, staff evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching of employees.
- Enforce company policies, safety protocols, and report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management promptly.
- Maintain a professional appearance and confidentiality of company information.
- Deliver friendly and professional guest service, anticipating and addressing their needs.
- Engage in clear and professional communication with colleagues and guests.
- Build positive working relationships and contribute to team goals.
- Comply with quality standards and expectations consistently.
- Perform physically demanding tasks such as moving objects up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, reaching, bending, and negotiating uneven surfaces.
- Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- No specific licenses or certifications are required.
