Job description

Position Overview

The role of Supervision Aide involves overseeing elementary and secondary school students within school premises during lunch breaks. This part-time continuing assignment is suited for individuals such as retirees, post-secondary students, or adults who have availability during lunch hours to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Working Hours and Compensation

  • Work schedule: 1 hour per day, up to 5 days weekly
  • Continual assignment basis
  • Hourly wage: 26 dollars

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor assigned areas during lunch to uphold student safety and encourage proper conduct
  • Identify potential safety risks early
  • Maintain a high level of visibility to effectively oversee student activities
  • Address inappropriate behavior respectfully and calmly, requesting administrative assistance when required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills
  • Sound judgement and suitable intervention techniques for student behavior management
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model and connect well with children and youth
  • Capability to build and sustain cooperative relationships with all school district personnel
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Capacity to remain on feet throughout the work shift

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supervising groups of school-aged children
  • Knowledge of first aid and training in conflict resolution or non-violent crisis intervention advantageous
