Structures Technician Sub-Amp

Role Overview

The Structures Technician Sub-Amp serves as a subject matter expert offering guidance to AMP Managers, operational teams, and engineering staff on the effective operation, upkeep, repair, compliance, sustainment, and recapitalization of mechanical and HVAC assets related to facilities. This role manages the entire lifecycle of facility structures including the building envelope and interior finishes, supporting the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) based at Al Udeid Air Base, Doha, Qatar.

Core Duties

• Provide expert advice to AMP Managers and operational flights on optimizing system investments.
• Offer technical support for the Facilities Structure & Finishes Sub-AMP activities.
• Manage asset lifecycle for building foundations, structural frameworks, roofs, external walls, windows, doors, interior walls, flooring, ceilings, and paint finishes.
• Develop inspection, maintenance, repair, sustainment, and recapitalization plans ensuring structural integrity, weather resistance, and aesthetic quality in alignment with FYDP+3.
• Coordinate closely with the Facilities AMP and Sub-AMP teams as needed.
• Support pre-design efforts for new construction, renovations, and facility upgrade projects.
• Adapt traditional design methods including calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications per project goals and standards.
• Conduct selected construction inspections, quality control, and review submittals beyond typical construction manager expertise.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates and project timelines.
• Generate correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets, status reports, and construction drawings for contractor bidding.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards, promoting a safe workplace.
• Serve as Alternate BUILDER Point of Contact (POC) and manage BUILDER database functions ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
• Enter and verify real property inventory and ensure synchronization between BUILDER and the Air Force Accountable Property System of Record (APSR).
• Maintain the integrity of facility records and inventories, update assessments, and track facilities awaiting RPUID assignment.
• Provide condition assessments for all facility systems.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Equivalent to at least Air Force 5-level with a minimum of 5 years’ trade experience.
• Completion of designated AFIT courses (WENG 200, WENG 440, WMGT 231, WMGT 417) within the earliest available session post hire.
• Preferred prior experience in Repair & Overhaul and NexGen systems.
• High school diploma or comparable training and experience.
• Familiarity with project development, contracting, and construction documentation.
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and Project applications.
• Competent English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to work collaboratively within diverse, dynamic teams.
• Strong analytical and judgment capabilities.
• Must obtain and hold a Secret US Government Clearance; US citizenship and Navy affiliation required.
• Valid driver’s license or international equivalent and US passport are mandatory.
• Previous overseas government contracting experience is advantageous.

Physical and Work Environment

• Capable of lifting, carrying, and pushing items up to 50 pounds.
• Working conditions may be remote and less comfortable; exposure to extended hours, weather, and hazardous environments is possible.
