Job description
Position Summary
Vancouver General Hospital's Division of Neurology is seeking a certified Stroke Neurologist accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) with specialized fellowship training in stroke and cerebrovascular disorders. The successful candidate will lead a comprehensive stroke subspecialty practice and contribute to general neurology service duties.
Work Environment and Responsibilities
- Participate in a shared clinical on-call schedule divided among 12 stroke neurologists for stroke cases and over 30 neurologists for general neurology coverage.
- Provide care in hospital outpatient clinics, including a stroke clinic and a rapid access general neurology clinic.
- Engage in mandatory teaching activities with medical students, residents, and fellows at this teaching hospital.
Qualifications and Licensing
- Hold Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC).
- Completion of at least one year of fellowship specialized in stroke and cerebrovascular disease, with interest areas like large vessel vasculopathy, stroke rehabilitation, or medical education.
- Membership in the College of Physicians of British Columbia (CPSBC) and Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) are mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred but not required.
