Job description
Overview
We are seeking experienced Stormwater Engineers to join our Auckland team, offering roles suited for both mid-level and senior professionals. The positions provide opportunities to work on diverse stormwater design projects, with a clear trajectory for professional growth and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop stormwater designs involved in land development and infrastructure initiatives.
- Conduct catchment assessments, including pipe networks, culverts, detention, and treatment system design.
- Perform flood risk assessments and contribute to stormwater management planning.
- Prepare design calculations, reports, and consent submissions.
- Collaborate effectively with civil, water, transport, and other engineering disciplines.
- Engage with clients, councils, and project teams to ensure project alignment and success.
- Take on increasing ownership of projects as experience develops.
- Lead and manage large-scale stormwater projects for senior-level positions, including mentoring junior staff and contributing to proposals.
- Review technical designs and provide expert guidance.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and maintain client relationships.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in stormwater or civil engineering for mid-level roles; 8+ years for senior engineering positions.
- Experience within New Zealand consultancy environments is preferred.
- Competence in technical stormwater design and analysis.
- Familiarity with Civil 3D and/or 12d software is advantageous.
- Exposure to stormwater modelling tools is beneficial.
- Strong communication abilities and client engagement skills.
- Progress towards Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status welcomed, especially for senior roles.
- Proven project management experience and capability to lead multidisciplinary teams (senior level).
- Interest and aptitude for mentoring and leadership responsibilities.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges from NZD 85,000 to NZD 130,000 annually, reflective of experience level, accompanied by standard benefits. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available depending on role and experience.
