Job Overview

The Store Baker is responsible for preparing and baking a variety of products in accordance with Whole Foods Market's high-quality standards. The role demands delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service, adhering strictly to team and store operational guidelines. Additionally, Team Members must support company values, promote programs, and comply with health and safety regulations, including food safety responsibilities specific to the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately measure, mix, and prepare raw materials following company recipes and specifications.
• Shape, cut, mold, and bake dough to meet product standards.
• Manage cooking times and adjust proof box temperature and humidity settings appropriately.
• Inspect products to ensure they comply with Whole Foods Market quality criteria.
• Complete temperature, sweeping, and sanitation logs as part of daily operations.
• Maintain punctuality, proper grooming, and readiness to work scheduled shifts including attending required trainings and meetings.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, promptly addressing customer needs and effectively utilizing suggestive selling techniques; also respond courteously to phone and page inquiries.
• Optimize sales through proper preparation, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising of products.
• Strictly follow health, sanitation, weights and measures, and safe work policies and ensure compliance among peers.
• Keep a clean and sanitary work and shopping environment, maintaining equipment according to cleanliness and safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties when assigned and verify pricing signage accuracy.
• Report safety hazards or violations immediately.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by leadership at store, regional, or national levels.

Experience

6 to 12 months experience in a retail setting is required.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

• Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
• Standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours during an 8-hour shift.
• Required hand motions include single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
• Physical motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching are routinely necessary.
• Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
• Work environment involves exposure to varying temperatures: below freezing, refrigeration temperatures, and heat exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Ability to work in both wet and dry conditions.
• Flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Use of tools and heavy equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and potentially ladders.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage range is $18.50 to $25.00, based on experience.
