Job description
Role Overview
Reporting to the Supervisor Operations, the Storage Operator plays a critical role in executing operational and maintenance tasks to guarantee the safe, efficient, and reliable provision of water services. This position involves managing key water infrastructure, troubleshooting operational challenges, assessing risks, and implementing corrective actions meticulously.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitoring and maintaining surveillance of water supply infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Conducting regular dam and flood surveillance activities, reporting incidents and responding promptly to emergencies and equipment breakdowns to prevent service disruption.
- Scheduling and controlling the distribution of water through natural watercourses and engineered delivery systems.
- Assisting with operations and upkeep of water treatment facilities, while ensuring accurate documentation of records and operational logs.
- Participating actively in emergency response initiatives and flood management as needed.
Work Schedule and Requirements
This position operates on an eight-days-on, six-days-off (8/6) roster that includes shared on-call responsibilities on a 1-in-2 rotation, which may involve working weekends. Candidates should have experience in similar roles, possess or be willing to obtain a Certificate III in Water Operations, and be capable of supervising site activities including dam and emergency procedures.
Skills and Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of dam, storage, and water infrastructure management.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, fault detection, and risk assessment capabilities.
- Valid tickets for Confined Space and Working at Heights.
- Proficiency in various computer applications such as SAP and Microsoft Office.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary of $91,776.16 per annum plus an on-call allowance.
- Superannuation contribution at 12.75%.
