Job description
Role Overview
The Stock Assistant plays a pivotal role in ensuring efficient management of the boutique's inventory, facilitating seamless product flow and meticulous inventory oversight. This role collaborates closely with the sales team by maintaining an orderly back-of-house environment and overseeing the accurate receipt, processing, storage, and replenishment of merchandise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a precise and well-organized store inventory system.
- Handle packing and unpacking of merchandise accurately.
- Manage incoming and outgoing stock transfers, guaranteeing proper stock validation.
- Process shipments swiftly within the same business day they occur.
- Receive merchandise, validate it within the inventory system, label products, and ensure correct placement.
- Ensure all items are tagged with accurate pricing labels.
- Coordinate with the warehouse regarding deliveries and shipments.
- Assist in managing reservations and after-sales activities through thorough processing and record-keeping.
- Keep stock storage areas clean, safe, and organized consistently.
- Ensure all goods are properly security-tagged, ticketed, handled with care, and stored securely.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of stock locations within the boutique.
- Organize stock locations optimally for easy accessibility by staff and support sales staff with stock searches, repairs, and transfers.
- Actively monitor and resolve any negative stock issues daily.
- Oversee all stock movements and transfers within the store and maintain back-of-house inventory accuracy.
- Participate in scheduled cycle counts and regular stock take preparations, supporting both partial and full stock takes.
- Manage customer returns and perform relabelling tasks.
- Record and control all stock movements accurately within the inventory system.
- Provide support on the sales floor when required, including delivering products to the sales team, returning stock, packaging, handling phone queries from other boutiques, and verifying stock for clients.
- Assist sales staff by replenishing stock on the sales floor.
- Monitor system alerts related to stock discrepancies and manual movements and address issues proactively.
- Support export procedures and keep sales associates informed about sales registrations.
- Report any irregularities such as damaged goods, discrepancies, or variances to management promptly.
- Conduct mini stock counts when necessary and provide feedback on stock condition and arrangement.
- Ensure compliance with internal control and reporting standards.
- Offer Sales & Service Support coverage during team absences to maintain smooth boutique operation.
