Position Overview

This role involves operating and maintaining kitchen dish machines and related equipment, ensuring all kitchen tools and utensils are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for subsequent service days. Duties include polishing and care of metals and setting up/breaking down event functions. The Steward also manages trash and recycling disposal and is tasked with restocking clean kitchen supplies.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to handle and transport food and equipment, including lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling equipment up to 200 lbs.
• Work takes place both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, often humid, wet, windy, or hot.
• Requires standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and working in confined spaces.
• Regular handling and operation of kitchen equipment and machinery.

Skills and Abilities

• Competent use of cleaning chemicals following instructions and safety guidelines.
• Supportive team player assisting colleagues and management promptly.
• Adherence to safety and sanitation standards and use of protective equipment as mandated.
• Mental focus required for learning, instruction following, interpersonal communication, stress management, and reliability.
• Capable of performing repetitive cleaning motions including washing, polishing, and extended physical activity.
• Proficiency in English sufficient for communication with staff and guests.
• Self-driven, results-oriented with ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
• Professional demeanor at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• Any combination of education and work experience providing necessary skills and knowledge is acceptable.
• Previous experience in stewarding is preferred.
• Requirement to obtain tuberculosis clearance.
