Job description
Overview
We are looking to hire a dedicated Statistical Analyst and Forecasting Specialist to convert complex datasets into actionable insights and robust forecasting models. This full-time position is suited for mid to senior professionals keen on applying advanced statistics, predictive analytics, and business intelligence to bolster operational decisions and strategic planning.
Key Duties
- Gather, structure, validate, and analyze extensive datasets from diverse business and operational channels.
- Develop statistical and predictive models for trends, seasonality, sales forecasts, and operational performance metrics.
- Continuously monitor, assess, and improve forecasting model accuracy and relevance through time-series and regression analyses.
- Execute hypothesis testing, correlation studies, and regression analysis to infer significant data relationships.
- Create scenario simulations to evaluate potential outcomes based on varying business assumptions.
- Interpret statistical outputs and convey findings into clear, actionable business strategies and reports.
- Support various planning functions such as demand, inventory, financial, workforce, and operations through precise forecast insights.
- Work collaboratively with data engineering and IT to optimize data pipelines and forecasting systems.
- Conduct variance and sensitivity analyses, regularly comparing real outcomes with predictions to refine models.
- Drive automation and efficiency in analytical processes supporting forecasting tasks.
- Stay updated with cutting-edge statistical approaches, forecasting technologies, and machine learning applications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, Finance, Business Analytics, or related quantitative field.
- Proven track record in statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive analytics, or business intelligence roles.
- Advanced expertise in statistical methods, probability, quantitative data analysis, and time-series forecasting.
- Hands-on experience with regression, hypothesis testing, and correlation analysis.
- Proficient in Excel advanced functions; experience with programming/statistical tools such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, or SPSS.
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms including Power BI and Tableau is a plus.
- Strong data management skills including cleaning, validation, and transformation of large datasets.
- Knowledge of performance metrics for forecasting models and business-oriented evaluation techniques.
- Ability to perform scenario and sensitivity analyses, and variance examination.
- Effective communication skills to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Project management capabilities with the ability to handle several analytical projects simultaneously.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in Finance, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, or Marketing departments is advantageous.
- Certifications in statistics, data analytics, forecasting, or business intelligence are beneficial.
- Exposure to machine learning or predictive analytics is a plus.
