Job Overview
Molex is looking for an experienced Stamping Toolmaker to aid in the upkeep, fault diagnosis, and ongoing enhancement of high-speed stamping dies integral to manufacturing processes. This role is vital for ensuring tool dependability, product excellence, and operational productivity in close partnership with production, engineering, quality assurance, and tooling departments.
Team Collaboration
You will become part of the manufacturing team dedicated to stamping activities, working alongside fellow Toolmakers, Production staff, Die Designers, and Quality teams to guarantee consistent tooling functionality and foster continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on high-speed stamping dies to ensure optimal performance and equipment uptime.
- Identify and analyze issues related to tooling and dies, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures to reduce manufacturing delays.
- Assist in die setup, qualification, handover, and validation to facilitate seamless integration of new or updated tooling into production workflows.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering, Quality, and Die Design to address technical difficulties and meet manufacturing targets.
- Engage in investigations of production incidents and quality enhancement initiatives, pinpointing tooling-related problems and suggesting lasting remedies.
- Monitor tooling and process performance proactively, seeking ways to enhance quality, output, tool durability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide support in die design assessments and tooling modifications by applying practical manufacturing and maintenance knowledge.
- Perform precision machining tasks including grinding, drilling, fitting, and adjustments necessary for die upkeep and repairs.
- Guide and mentor junior toolmakers by sharing expertise and troubleshooting techniques to build team proficiency.
- Adhere to high standards of safety, workmanship, documentation, and workplace organization while promoting continuous improvement in stamping operations.
- Carry out other tasks as designated by management.
Qualifications
- NTC 3 certification in Metal Machining or equivalent vocational training.
- At least 5 years of experience in tooling, die maintenance, stamping operations, or a related manufacturing field.
- Familiarity with maintenance, repair, and setup of high-speed stamping dies.
- Proven hands-on skills in machining processes such as grinding, drilling, fitting, and tool adjustments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Experience
- Over 10 years of expertise in stamping tool and die maintenance.
- Experience with high-volume precision stamping environments.
- Involvement in die design reviews, tooling changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience performing root cause analysis and applying corrective actions.
- Ability to train and nurture junior toolmakers.
