Job description

Role Overview

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) specializing in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) at MongoDB, you will collaborate closely with SRE leaders and engineers to enhance and scale the foundational platform behind MongoDB’s cloud products. Your efforts will focus on advancing program execution, boosting production reliability, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration between teams based in the US and EMEA. The goal is to achieve seamless product launches, clear strategic roadmaps, improved reliability metrics, and a capable SRE team ready to provide predictable large-scale service.

This position is open for candidates based in our Dublin or Cork offices or working remotely anywhere in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee programs by setting scope, milestones, and success metrics alongside SRE teams. Manage inter-team dependencies and progress tracking using Jira to ensure timely delivery.
  • Enhance production reliability through leadership of change management and launch readiness initiatives. Collaborate with SRE and product teams to define and implement Service Level Objectives and Indicators, applying incident analysis, performance metrics, and capacity data to guide prioritization and continual improvement.
  • Coordinate cross-functional alignment by partnering SRE with Security, Compliance, Cloud platform, and additional engineering teams. Lead unified incident response, ensure accountability, and establish trust as the primary facilitator of complex multi-team projects.
  • Develop scalable operational frameworks and communication methods that empower SRE teams to perform reliably at scale, aiming to eliminate dependency on individual “hero” interventions by fostering team autonomy.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in technical program management, engineering leadership, or comparable technical roles working closely with software engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale, cross-team platform projects through ambiguous and evolving challenges.
  • Strong expertise in production change management, software development lifecycle processes, and reliability measurements such as SLOs and SLIs.
  • Proficiency in shaping detailed roadmaps and managing project dependencies effectively.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret various operational data (metrics, logs) to make informed decisions and communicate risks clearly.
  • Outstanding communication abilities marked by clarity, conciseness, and composure when engaging engineers, partners, and executives.
  • A collaborative, humble approach fueled by taking ownership of complex problems from start to finish.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience or close collaboration with Kubernetes, cloud networking, or observability technologies including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerts.
  • Previous work experience within or alongside Site Reliability Engineering teams.
  • Background knowledge in large-scale cloud infrastructure or platform engineering.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas or contemporary cloud-based database platforms.

Additional Information

This opportunity embodies MongoDB’s core values by enabling ownership of challenging ambiguities and delivering organization-wide integrated solutions across SRE, engineering, Security, and Compliance teams. You will be a central contributor to high-impact initiatives involving executive stakeholders, with robust support for career growth.
