Job description

About the Role

Super is on a mission to revolutionize how users engage with sports, gaming, and fan experiences globally by building The Playstack, the next-generation technology platform. As the Staff Strategy & Competitive Intelligence Researcher, you will bridge the gap between user insights and strategic market decisions by owning an advanced intelligence system that integrates consumer, behavioral, and competitive data for executive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Super's high-level competitive intelligence distinct from operational monitoring, using AI-augmented systems to track leading competitors' strategic actions across multiple markets.
  • Develop dynamic competitor profiles with actionable insights to guide strategic responses, creating monthly briefings and rapid analyses of significant competitor moves.
  • Manage comprehensive market sizing efforts including TAM, SAM, and SOM for current and prospective markets, building reusable, transparent models (in Python or equivalent) with sensitivity analyses.
  • Drive data-informed market strategies such as entries, expansions, or exits by assessing market structure, regulation, competition, and economic segments.
  • Maintain an ongoing awareness of regulatory and commercial changes across over a dozen markets and advise on strategic implications.
  • Develop and sustain a regulatory and policy intelligence framework, translating developments into business impacts and representing Super in key industry and regulatory forums.
  • Craft the internal narrative around market positioning, competitive landscape, and strategic priorities for high-level stakeholders including CEO, Board, and C-suite.
  • Oversee and enhance strategic intelligence infrastructure including AI pipelines, data ingestion automation, and queryable knowledge bases to sustain efficient, scalable insight delivery.

Candidate Profile

  • 8+ years in strategic roles within competitive intelligence, market analysis, corporate development, or related fields, with at least 3 years producing decisive, actionable deliverables.
  • Experience deploying AI-enhanced strategy workflows, including LLM-driven synthesis and automated market surveillance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in market sizing and financial modeling, capable of constructing and defending complex market models.
  • Deep expertise in competitive intelligence with a track record of delivering insights for executive and board-level decisions.
  • Familiarity with navigating regulatory frameworks in heavily governed sectors (e.g., gambling, fintech, healthcare).
  • Advanced commercial acumen tying market and competitor data to financial results and capital allocation.
  • Background combining consulting, strategic finance, or senior in-house intelligence roles at consumer or technology firms with multi-market presence.

Desired Skills & Qualities

  • A strong orientation toward producing clear strategic recommendations rather than mere observations.
  • Comfort and expertise in designing and operating AI-supported research methods with awareness of AI limitations and biases.
  • Ability to make sound judgments under pressure, balancing rigor and pragmatism in strategy formulation.
  • Confident executive communication skills to influence decision-making and challenge assumptions.
  • Pragmatic focus on implementable strategies within business constraints.
  • Credibility and presence in regulatory and industry forums, capable of representing the company authoritatively.
  • Talent for coalition building across internal stakeholders to garner support for strategic initiatives.
  • Readiness to take and defend strong positions on strategic issues without hesitation.

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Advanced degrees in business, economics, finance, political economy, or related quantitative fields; PhD is a plus.
  • Experience in sports betting, online gambling, fintech, or adjacent regulated sectors.
  • Technical skills in Python for modeling and automation, SQL for data work, and familiarity with strategic intelligence platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with large language model (LLM) tools beyond chat, including RAG pipelines and AI evaluation frameworks.
  • Exposure to multi-market or pan-European commercial contexts and regulatory environments involved in consumer betting sectors.
  • Multilingual abilities beyond English (e.g., Romanian, Polish, Spanish, German, Dutch, Portuguese).
  • A public record evidencing strategic thought leadership such as publications, talks, or regulatory contributions.

Benefits

  • Medical and health insurance coverage.
  • Flexible annual leave policy.
  • Employee assistance programs for well-being support.
  • Access to training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Additional country-specific benefits discussed during recruitment.
