Role Overview

The newly formed Program Structure and Trust team at Vanta is responsible for architecting the enterprise organizational model that integrates compliance and security structures—such as product lines, business units, isolated data environments, cross-cutting audits, scoped approvals, and data residency requirements—directly within Vanta’s platform. This foundational work shapes Vanta’s ability to serve complex enterprise clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and phased implementation of Vanta's enterprise organizational model, incorporating hierarchical business units, isolated data access, scoped audit workflows, approval scopes, and support for data residency regulations including EU and GovCloud.
• Define and refine core abstractions that enable the platform to handle complex and often conflicting enterprise requirements in a scalable and generalized manner.
• Develop safe migration strategies for transitioning a live system to a multi-tenant organizational architecture, ensuring incremental delivery and continuity for existing customers.
• Deliver tangible customer value quarterly while incrementally progressing toward the complete enterprise solution by balancing product insight and customer engagement.
• Guide and align multiple engineering teams beyond direct oversight through technical leadership and clarity, fostering collaboration without direct authority.
• Collaborate with leadership, product management, and design teams to translate long-term enterprise structure vision into actionable milestones.
• Establish and uphold technical standards for the group, shape cross-team architecture, and exemplify engineering excellence aligned with the Program Structure and Trust charter.

Candidate Profile

• Possess over 10 years of extensive backend engineering experience with successful leadership in managing complex, multi-quarter technical projects within fast-paced, product-oriented companies.
• Experienced in designing platform abstractions that assimilate diverse and conflicting enterprise needs, focusing on broad applicability rather than individual customer demands.
• Proven track record of delivering staged solutions that meaningfully advance large, intricate problems with incremental, self-contained phases aligned with customer and product readiness.
• Adept at cross-team collaboration, building consensus through technical expertise and communication rather than hierarchical position.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise architectural patterns, including tenancy models, role-based access controls, data isolation mechanisms, scoped permissions, cross-tenant operations, and access boundary design.
• Excellent communication skills capable of simplifying complex technical systems to leaders, product teams, and customer stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
• Exposure to data residency regulations or GovCloud environments is advantageous; the ideal candidate will ramp up on these areas promptly as foundational work progresses.
• Openness to leveraging AI tools to enhance capabilities, demonstrating curiosity, responsible application, and efficiency improvements.
