Job description
About Block Labs
Block Labs is a leading technology studio specializing in the forefront of Web3, Artificial Intelligence, and iGaming domains. They focus on engineering scalable, production-grade platforms that underpin the next wave of digital innovations. The team is made up of senior engineers, product strategists, and creators who prioritize robust architecture and long-term solutions, building systems from autonomous multi-agent AI to decentralized finance and high-frequency iGaming platforms.
Role Overview
The company is seeking a highly experienced frontend engineer to spearhead the development of a unified multi-brand consumer platform. Utilizing React, Next.js, and TypeScript, this platform serves multiple brands from a single codebase, enabling brand launches through configuration rather than duplication. As the most senior frontend professional, you will carry full responsibility for the platform's UI integrity.
Responsibilities
- Oversee every aspect of the frontend architecture, standards, quality, and live behavior across a multi-brand platform without predefined specifications.
- Enable brand integration through configurable theming, brand-specific routing, content management, and clear separation between shared and unique brand code in an operational product.
- Create and maintain the design system and component library used collaboratively by engineers, designers, and AI-assisted prototyping tools.
- Efficiently transform product prototypes into fully functional production features, developing workflows and tooling to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Collaborate daily with AI coding agents as the primary means of development, implementing rigorous quality control to maximize productivity and guide others in agent usage.
- Deliver consumer-facing UI that excels in detail, performance, and accessibility standards.
- Engage directly with product owners on user experience and product-related issues, proposing workable solutions instead of just expressing concerns.
Candidate Profile
- At least 8 years of experience delivering production consumer web applications, with several years holding senior or Staff-level ownership roles.
- Proven track record of taking frontend projects from initial concepts to live production ownership, with clear accountability for deliverables.
- Advanced usage of AI coding agents integrated into personal workflows, with a nuanced understanding of their strengths and pitfalls, including validation practices.
- Expertise with React, Next.js, and modern TypeScript, including a strong grasp of rendering techniques and discerning their applicability.
- Experience in designing or refactoring multi-brand, multi-tenant, or white-label frontend architectures.
- Ownership or creation of design systems, balancing consistency, flexibility, adoption challenges, and governance frameworks.
- Strong attention to UI and UX details, proactively identifying and rectifying issues.
- Comfortable collaborating with non-engineers who prototype with AI tools, designing systems to support their output effectively.
- Demonstrated success improving Core Web Vitals in a production environment.
- Thrives in autonomous, minimal-process environments with excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building real-time, interactive consumer interfaces prioritizing responsiveness and user experience.
- Background in fintech, cryptocurrency, real-time gaming or entertainment, and other high-traffic consumer software platforms.
- Developed tooling or integrations that enhance AI agent performance within specific codebases or design systems.
- Familiarity with continuous integration, continuous deployment, and cloud infrastructure environments.
Role Clarifications
- This is not a managerial or team lead position; influence is driven by direct shipping and delivery.
- It does not involve exclusively architectural design; writing and maintaining production-level code daily is expected.
- Not suitable for candidates who require a team structure, fixed backlogs, or completely detailed specifications before starting work.
Culture and Environment
Block Labs nurtures a mature, mission-oriented, and low-ego culture. The environment values clarity, meaningful outcomes, and a balanced workflow, welcoming top-tier experts looking to collaborate with fellow specialists.
