Role Summary
This position serves as a technical project leader who organizes engineering efforts, defines technical tasks for team members, enhances existing processes, and influences standards. It includes technical decision-making and represents PayPal in interactions with external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects or system initiatives by coordinating engineering team activities.
- Define and assign technical tasks to engineers to meet project goals.
- Deliver results aligning with customer, operational, and program objectives.
- Continuously improve infrastructure and workflows.
- Apply judgment to balance competing priorities such as time constraints, quality standards, complexity, and risks to find optimal solutions.
- Recognize recurring patterns and develop generalized, efficient solutions.
- Collaborate with management to enhance engineering rigor and standards.
- Act as a trusted representative of PayPal externally with partners, customers, and industry groups.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to convert requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Participate actively in system design and peer reviews.
- Create and maintain scalable, high-performance software systems.
- Produce clean, well-tested, and maintainable code across the technology stack.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks while improving system reliability, scalability, and security.
- Leverage AI-based development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor to boost development efficiency and code quality.
- Stay abreast of emerging AI and machine learning technologies and assess their relevance to company goals.
- Plan and manage software releases in coordination with relevant teams ensuring smooth deployment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience paired with a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent blend of education and professional experience.
- Strong knowledge in software design, system architecture, and practical coding skills.
- Experience in applying AI tools and technologies to develop intelligent, efficient systems.

The role is based in Singapore and requires onsite attendance. PayPal maintains a zero percent travel expectation for this position.
