We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to provide hands-on architectural expertise and technical contributions to a vital global platform at Xometry, such as Buyer Experience, Partner Experience, Pricing, Quality, or Sourcing. This senior individual contributor role emphasizes creating fast, reliable, and user-friendly solutions powered by customer-centric, AI-enhanced engineering.

As an inaugural member of Xometry's India Product Development Team (PDT), you'll elevate engineering standards, mentor colleagues, and ensure our marketplace platforms consistently deliver measurable business outcomes at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate AI tools seamlessly into daily development workflows, including code generation, review, debugging, and design evaluation to accelerate delivery without losing code quality.
• Design and assess architectural plans for new initiatives and actively engage in coding alongside the team.
• Balance established and innovative technologies wisely, knowing when to adopt new advances or reinforce proven solutions.
• Resolve complex technical challenges in your service or domain, involving other teams when necessary.
• Apply sound judgment in selecting technical approaches appropriate for each problem.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor team members on best practices for quality review processes.
• Provide guidance and coaching for engineers throughout the organization to support their professional growth.
• Take ownership of technical decisions in your domain, delivering software aligned with customer needs and business schedules.
• Establish and promote excellent engineering standards for the expanding India PDT.
• Collaborate closely with product management, design, and leadership to uphold open communication and high technical quality.
• Coordinate with global engineering teams to ensure unified technical strategies across time zones.
• Contribute to building the India PDT from the ground up by setting high technical standards and mentoring growing teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of professional software development experience in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.
• Experience with marketplace products, especially involving scalable multi-sided platforms, is highly preferred.
• Hands-on experience using modern AI development tools such as AI coding assistants, code review copilots, and agentic developer tools to enhance speed and maintain code quality.
• Strong full-stack development skills encompassing:
  • Backend development in Python, focusing on services, APIs, and data-centric systems.
  • Frontend development using React and TypeScript, emphasizing scalable user interface design and usability.
  • Experience with AWS services, including deploying, monitoring, and scaling production applications.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities to set technical direction, mentor engineers at various levels, and influence product and business decisions.
