Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance dependable and scalable backend services using modern Java and Spring Boot across various products and platform components.
• Maintain hands-on involvement in coding while leading technical initiatives that span multiple teams, driving projects from conception to deployment with tangible business outcomes.
• Utilize REST and gRPC APIs, event-driven workflows, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Flyway, and shared platform tools to build resilient customer-facing solutions.
• Elevate the standards of architecture, observability, performance, security, testing, and developer experience within a cloud-native environment leveraging Kubernetes, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional teams including backend, web, and mobile developers; provide mentorship through technical leadership, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Employ AI-assisted tools judiciously to enhance quality, speed, and developer experience, and establish best engineering practices around their usage.

Skills and Experience

• Proven expertise in creating backend services with contemporary Java and Spring Boot, demonstrated at a Staff Engineer level encompassing architecture, coding, and leadership across teams.
• Strong background in microservices and event-driven system design, adept at ensuring reliability, scalability, idempotency, and maintainability over the long term.
• Experience with data storage technologies including PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, Flyway, Redis, and Kafka, with the ability to select appropriate persistence and messaging solutions.
• Comfortable managing production services, improving them through robust observability, metrics, alerting mechanisms, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes operations.
• Familiarity with AI-enhanced development tools and applying them effectively while ensuring code quality and reviewability.
• A collaborative, product-focused mindset with willingness to engage across the technology stack; experience with React, TypeScript, micro-frontends, and full feature delivery is highly advantageous.
