Role Purpose

The Staff Security Engineer will serve as the technical leader of the Security Engineering team, spearheading technical excellence and mentoring colleagues. This role integrates deep application and cloud security expertise to influence architecture, embed secure design across the organization, and build Security as Code solutions that enhance security while enabling fast delivery. The engineer will conduct security assessments, leverage threat modeling, and create standardized security patterns and guidelines to enhance organizational security posture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Security Engineering team technically, providing direction, coaching, and mentorship.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security best practices and tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Create reusable Security as Code artifacts and patterns that minimize developer friction and enhance security outcomes.
• Perform threat modeling and security assessments to identify and mitigate risks in critical applications and systems.
• Develop and maintain Hardening Standards and Security Guidelines for various technologies and workflows.
• Automate auditing activities, cloud security posture management, and other security processes to improve efficiency.
• Maintain Infrastructure as Code assets and CI/CD pipelines supporting security operations.
• Promote the use of AI technologies to optimize security operations and encourage security-first approaches across teams.
• Collaborate on cross-functional projects to scale PPRO’s security stance.
• Stay ahead of emerging security trends and technologies to drive proactive improvements.

Candidate Profile

• Experienced technical leader with strong mentoring and collaboration skills.
• Proficient AI user who leverages AI/LLM frameworks to enhance security workflows and build scalable solutions.
• Solid foundation in software engineering principles, secure development practices, and security architecture.
• Advanced expertise in AWS and container security technologies like Kubernetes, with knowledge of GCP considered a plus.
• Deep understanding of DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform), CI/CD security with tools such as GitHub Actions, and scripting languages like Python and bash.
• Results-driven, pragmatic, collaborative, proactive, and continuously seeking improvement.
• Strong communication skills, capable of removing obstacles for teams and fostering security awareness throughout the organization.
