About The Trade Desk
The Trade Desk is a leading global technology company specializing in digital advertising, with a workforce of nearly 4,000 employees distributed across more than 30 offices. Our platform empowers advertisers to reach precise audiences on the open internet, including streaming TV, podcasts, mobile applications, news outlets, and more.
Advertising fuels the availability of content treasured by audiences. By enhancing transparency, efficiency, and responsibility in advertising, we support trustworthy journalism, quality entertainment, and creators worldwide. The industry's top brands and agencies depend on our platform to connect with customers and grow their businesses responsibly.
The platform's vast scale presents unique technical challenges, from handling massive real-time data sets to building systems that function reliably across global markets. Working here means making an impact on a worldwide scale. We foster a culture of diverse perspectives, curiosity, and mutual learning, seeking individuals passionate about solving significant challenges.
Company Culture
We have cultivated a culture founded on trust, ownership, and the conviction that principled, ambitious individuals can transform an industry. The Trade Desk prizes intellectual honesty, diversity of thought, and teams that motivate each other to excel. We embrace bold initiatives, learn from setbacks, and deeply commit to providing value for both our customers and colleagues.
Role Overview
Reporting and data analytics are among our most significant investment areas. Having developed one of the most powerful programmatic platforms globally, we're now investing comprehensively to transform how customers engage with their data—reimagining reporting experiences with a vision to build a world-class product. This role will be pivotal in shaping that vision.
Our platform handles tremendous data volumes, processing trillions of events and billions of ad impressions in real time across global channels and markets. The technical complexity and business impact are immense, offering a rare opportunity to work at unparalleled scale in a greenfield environment.
This senior individual contributor role involves ownership of an entire product domain related to reporting, defining strategic direction, setting quality standards, and influencing cross-organization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the long-term strategy for The Trade Desk's reporting experiences, covering data exploration tools, visualizations, delivery mechanisms, proactive insights, and AI-enhanced interfaces used by advertisers and agencies.
- Identify and prioritize emerging opportunities in reporting and analytics, including innovative data delivery methods, AI-assisted analysis, and collaborative data workflows.
- Set competitive strategic direction leveraging our platform's unmatched openness, transparency, and log-level data access to create differentiated customer experiences.
- Define AI-native reporting approaches, integrating natural language queries, automated insights, and intelligent workflows that anticipate user needs and bridge data to action.
- Construct business cases for product investments, partnering with executives to influence resource distribution.
- Oversee end-to-end reporting infrastructure products, including query layers, visualization dashboards, APIs, and scheduled/cloud-based delivery systems.
- Design scalable reporting solutions that manage trillions of data events and billions of impressions globally, ensuring seamless user experiences.
- Specify requirements for data pipelines, query performance, API architecture, and semantic data models emphasizing reliability, speed, and data integrity.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and data science teams to guide architectural decisions affecting performance and scalability.
- Lead strategy on data collaboration features like log-level sharing, integration with partner platforms, clean rooms, and broader data ecosystems.
- Align senior stakeholders across product, engineering, data science, commercial, and executive leadership around the reporting roadmap and dependencies.
- Enable commercial teams by providing product expertise to support client engagements related to reporting and analytics.
- Partner with marketing and go-to-market teams to package and launch new reporting capabilities effectively.
- Champion a culture focused on data quality, trust, and transparency both internally and with our customers.
- Maintain active external engagement with clients, agencies, and partners to gather feedback and stay responsive to market trends.
- Represent The Trade Desk as a recognized authority on advertising data, reporting, and analytics in the industry.
- Lead efforts to advance privacy-first data sharing, clean room integrations, and secure data partnerships that ensure user trust and compliance.
- Build and promote The Trade Desk’s credibility by deeply understanding user workflows and how our platform uniquely serves these needs.
Candidate Profile
- Over six years of product management experience with a focus on data-intensive B2B SaaS, programmatic advertising, or ad tech environments.
- In-depth knowledge of the entire campaign lifecycle, including planning, launch validation, monitoring, optimization, and reporting.
- Proven success building data products such as query tools, dashboards, APIs, and scheduled data delivery systems that feel responsive and trustworthy.
- Strong product management approach treating data itself as a product, emphasizing structure, quality, consistency, and user trust.
- Technical proficiency in engaging with architecture design, data pipelines, APIs, semantic models, and ensuring system performance without relying on coding skills.
- Exceptional judgment and taste in product execution and user experience, aiming to deliver highly lovable products rather than merely minimal shipping versions.
- Practice of user empathy backed by direct customer interaction and product usage to deeply understand and solve user problems.
- Results-oriented approach with a bias toward rapid shipping, prioritizing value while cutting scope where needed.
- High personal accountability, capable of influencing across organizational boundaries to deliver comprehensive user solutions.
- Comfortable and skilled in commercial conversations, connecting product efforts to business outcomes and collaborating with sales and marketing teams.
- Excellent communication abilities, able to succinctly articulate vision and drive alignment across distributed, varied teams.
- Persistence and resilience in problem-solving, iterating towards the right solutions despite challenges.
Preferred Additional Experience
- Hands-on experience or strong opinions on AI-native, agentic, or machine learning-powered product features in analytics and reporting workflows.
- Familiarity with data collaboration platforms, clean rooms, and log-level data access technologies.
- Experience working in DSP, SSP, agency trading desk, or programmatic platforms, either managing campaigns or building tools for such users.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Trade Desk is committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of personal background or status and respects fair hiring practices consistent with relevant legislation. We value merit, performance, and business needs as the basis for all employment decisions.
