Role Overview

Kraken is seeking a highly skilled Staff Product Designer to impact the future of its flagship app. This senior individual contributor role carries broad influence, leading design initiatives on complex, high-priority product areas used by millions globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and enhance the design vision for critical product segments, establishing high standards and overseeing their implementation.
• Lead the design of complex and ambiguous challenges by crafting clear, elegant, and scalable user experiences.
• Create visually innovative designs elevating Kraken's brand and setting industry benchmarks for quality.
• Develop and refine Kraken’s design system and visual language to ensure product consistency and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and leadership teams to influence both product strategy and execution.
• Facilitate alignment across teams by providing clarity and direction for cross-functional projects.
• Mentor and support design team members to enhance their skills and collective quality.
• Promote a culture of high craftsmanship and superior user experience by influencing stakeholders organization-wide.
• Leverage customer insights, data, and experimentation to improve product outcomes continuously.
• Lead design critiques to foster feedback culture, rigor, and ongoing improvement.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

• Over seven years of experience in product design with a portfolio showcasing high-impact mobile app experiences and excellent craftsmanship.
• Demonstrated leadership in directing design across complex product areas with successful delivery of quality outcomes.
• Expertise in UX and visual design, adept at resolving ambiguous problems with clarity and sophistication.
• Advanced prototyping skills to effectively communicate complex interactions.
• Experience influencing product strategy and team or organizational level cross-functional decisions.
• Strong systems thinking with experience developing or evolving scalable design systems.
• Proven ability to mentor designers through constructive feedback and collaboration.
• Data-driven approach balancing user needs, business objectives, and technical limitations.
• Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to articulate and justify design choices to diverse groups.
• Deep knowledge of human-centered design principles and research methodologies applied in complex settings.
• Experience with trading or financial products is advantageous.
