Job description
Overview
This position entails adherence to departmental protocols, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards at SIMS Hospital. The nurse will conduct initial nursing histories, monitor patients, and collaboratively develop individualized care plans for assigned patients.
Key Duties
- Follow established departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and infection control measures.
- Document initial nursing histories and reassessments; create tailored nursing care plans.
- Regularly monitor patients’ vital signs and promptly report any adverse medication reactions.
- Coordinate with healthcare teams on patient discharge planning.
- Educate patients and family members regarding surgical procedures and postoperative care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient files, medical charts, and health records.
- Administer and manage medications responsibly.
- Deliver inpatient care including daily assessments and coordination with other disciplines, manage nursing-related issues, and prepare patients for home care.
- Ensure patient case sheets remain complete and accurate.
- Support attending physicians and assist patients and families during stressful or crisis situations.
- Assist physicians during procedures, provide ongoing care after procedures, and aid during emergencies around the time of procedures.
- Safely transport patients to diagnostic or other wards as required.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families per hospital protocols.
- Report abnormalities in investigation reports promptly to Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
- Inspect assigned areas daily for policy compliance and implement corrective measures if necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to meet department goals, maintain positive relations, and uphold infection control policies.
- Assist in planning patient discharges and promptly execute physicians’ orders including labs, medications, and transfusions.
- Monitor signs of patient deterioration and activate medical emergency teams as required.
- Complete additional tasks as delegated by Charge Nurse.
Remuneration
The monthly salary for this role ranges from 18,000 to 32,000 INR.
