Role Impact and Responsibilities

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will be pivotal in architecting and delivering features that allow hotel clients to make smart, data-driven pricing decisions. Your work will range from utilizing straightforward heuristic data to implementing sophisticated machine learning algorithms that enhance revenue strategies. Collaborating closely with product and engineering colleagues, you will identify enhancement opportunities, innovate impactful solutions, and support revenue growth for hotels using our platform.

You will be accountable for the end-to-end development of our revenue management application, ensuring the systems are reliable, scalable, and maintain high standards from development through production. Your expertise will be crucial in embedding strong ML practices and comprehensive testing throughout the machine learning lifecycle. From designing data pipelines to validating ML models, your role supports delivering accurate insights that help hotels maximize success.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience architecting, deploying, and maintaining production-level distributed ML systems, including with AWS Sagemaker.
  • Expertise in MLOps including CI/CD, orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Flink, and large-scale model monitoring with drift detection.
  • Strong Python skills, backend development experience, and familiarity with software engineering best practices such as version control, code reviews, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficient in defining Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Objectives (SLOs) and managing extensive technical roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including mentoring team members and influencing cross-functional decisions.
  • In-depth understanding of applying statistical and machine learning techniques to optimize revenue management and pricing.
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in machine learning roles, with a record of successful ML model deployment to production.
  • Strong grasp of ML testing strategies encompassing data validation, model accuracy, and performance evaluation.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with handling large datasets for analysis and model training.
  • Excellent problem-solving aptitude with a data-driven approach to complex challenges.
  • Effective communication and collaboration capabilities across multifunctional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience utilizing CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins particularly for ML pipeline and Airflow DAG deployments.
  • Familiarity with tools and frameworks for monitoring data quality.
  • Advanced academic qualifications such as a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
