Role Overview

We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist to act as a pivotal technical leader within our data team, guiding the identification and resolution of impactful challenges. This role bridges business strategy with scalable, production-level machine learning, working across areas such as growth frameworks, supply chain optimization, and marketing attribution to ensure our data products drive measurable business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and rollout of automated machine learning systems, balancing thoroughness and speed while delivering production-quality code and foundational ML infrastructure.
• Convert vague business issues into solid technical plans that yield actionable, measurable insights.
• Manage full ML product deployment pipelines, assuring accuracy, reliability, maintainability, and integration into production environments.
• Collaborate extensively with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to align technical solutions with strategic objectives and core metrics.
• Set model development standards, facilitating peer reviews and documentation to promote reproducibility and synergy with Data and Analytics Engineering teams.
• Be accountable for the entire model lifecycle, from inception and design to monitoring long-term effectiveness and impact.
• Mentor senior and mid-level data scientists, enhancing team expertise and fostering continuous professional growth.

Qualifications and Skills

• Over eight years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning Engineering with a proven history of deploying impactful production systems.
• Expert proficiency in Python and SQL, including mastery of data libraries like pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or XGBoost/LightGBM.
• Exceptional at systemic problem solving with the foresight to build scalable solutions while delivering immediate business value.
• Strong leadership skills enabling influence without direct authority and the ability to translate complex concepts for executive audiences.
• Experienced in CI/CD processes, ML Ops, and managing ML lifecycle in cloud infrastructures like AWS or GCP.
• Educational background in quantitative fields such as Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent expertise.

Preferred Experience

• Proven capability in developing initial machine learning models from experimental phases to automated, reliable production pipelines within organizations.
• Applied expertise in one or two areas such as customer behavior modeling (churn, propensity, LTV), forecasting (time-series, anomaly detection), optimization (marketing spend, inventory), or causal inference techniques (e.g., quasi-experiments, difference-in-differences).
