Position Overview
We seek motivated individuals to join our staff cafeteria team, "The Bean," at Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. This role offers the chance to enhance your skills by engaging daily with colleagues and leaders, opening pathways to career growth in Culinary or Food & Beverage Guest Services within a luxury hotel brand.
The starting wage is $20.47 per hour. Compensation increases with tenure, with hourly rates rising after six months and annually up to three years. At the three-year mark, the pay reaches $23.33 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in daily cafeteria operations, including setting up service areas, restocking stations, and ensuring efficient buffet service flow
- Prepare and help cook, season, and display food items following recipes, quality benchmarks, and Chef guidance
- Ensure food safety and quality through FIFO methods, accurate labeling, allergen awareness, and temperature monitoring
- Provide courteous and professional service while maintaining stocked, organized, and inviting dining spaces
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, utensils, and service items
- Adhere to Fairmont culinary standards and procedures and undertake additional duties as needed
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least one year of experience in food and beverage, including light kitchen preparations and upkeep of dining areas during service
- Possession of a valid Canadian Food Handlers Certificate
- Knowledgeable with professional chef knives and tools and able to execute basic knife cuts
- Self-motivated with capacity to work independently and minimal supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dedicated to high customer service standards and precise attention to detail
- Excellent time management capabilities, prioritizing efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Proactive in anticipating internal guests’ needs who typically have a 30-minute break
