Role Overview
As the Grafana Cloud service rapidly expands, we are redesigning Grafana's architecture to be fully multi-tenant, scalable, and capable of supporting cloud applications. This position focuses on transforming Grafana into an advanced observability application platform that integrates open-source and proprietary apps to enhance dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry. The role demands thoughtful planning and deployment of significant backend refactoring to maintain service stability for a diverse global user base.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new backend features and continuously improve operational aspects based on production feedback.
- Create, contribute to, and review technical design documents.
- Participate actively in guiding the product roadmap.
- Mentor peers and collaborate cross-functionally with other teams.
- Take ownership of the customer experience through participation in on-call rotations covering weekday and weekend schedules.
- Utilize modern AI coding assistants and advanced language models to enhance development productivity within company-defined security policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience coding and operating backend software you have developed.
- Expertise working with SaaS platforms at scale, addressing distributed systems challenges such as scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, and high availability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to multiple audiences and contexts.
- Ability to collaborate across teams, align with stakeholders, maintain transparency, and accept feedback.
- Pragmatic mindset prioritizing progress and adaptability in uncertain situations.
- Experience with Golang or strong enthusiasm to learn the language.
Compensation and Benefits
In Canada, the annual salary range is approximately 186,368 to 223,642 CAD, varying based on level, expertise, and interview outcomes. All employees receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) to foster shared ownership in Grafana Labs’ success. Compensation is adjusted to local markets when applicable.
