Spotter/Laborer

Position Overview

The Spotter plays a crucial role in directing vehicle drivers safely and efficiently within landfill, transfer station, or recycling facilities according to designated site plans, while ensuring full adherence to safety protocols. The role involves inspecting incoming waste loads to identify and remove prohibited items before disposal. In addition to directing traffic, the Spotter may assist with general labor tasks such as site cleanup, yard maintenance, and building upkeep as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to all company safety procedures, including safe practices for approaching vehicles and maintaining constant use of personal protective equipment.
• Enforce posted and unposted site safety regulations consistently.
• Guide trucks to appropriate locations within the facility based on site fill plans, including managing vehicle movement under adverse weather conditions.
• Inspect loads arriving on site to identify and remove contaminated or unacceptable materials such as tires and batteries prior to disposal.
• Coordinate with equipment operators regarding special or notable incoming waste requiring additional handling.
• Complete daily closing duties as per company procedures.
• Perform general labor tasks, including cleaning, landscaping, and building maintenance, when necessary.
• Carry out additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of one year of experience working around heavy machinery.
• Reliable adherence to work schedules and proactive problem-solving capabilities.

Compensation

The starting wage is $21 per hour USD, with a pay range between $17.13 and $20.52 per hour based on local minimum wage laws where the position is filled.
