Role Overview
Surrey Park Women’s Clinic seeks a Specialist Sonographer to deliver expert fertility ultrasound diagnostics at the core of a multidisciplinary clinical team. The role involves conducting follicular tracking, assessing ovarian reserve, performing early pregnancy and gynecological ultrasounds. This position requires advanced clinical proficiency paired with a patient-focused attitude, ensuring that precision and empathy positively impact every patient encounter.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct various ultrasound examinations including transvaginal, transabdominal, Doppler, fertility monitoring, gynecological, and early pregnancy scans following clinic guidelines.
- Carry out follicular tracking, assessments of ovarian reserve, endometrial and pelvic evaluations to assist fertility diagnostics and treatment cycles.
- Analyze, interpret, and report ultrasound results accurately to aid clinical decisions and treatment strategies.
- Monitor patient progress during treatment cycles, escalate any clinical, wellbeing or safeguarding issues as necessary.
- Generate timely ultrasound reports and keep detailed electronic patient records.
- Participate in audits, quality assurance, incident reporting, and initiatives aimed at improving services.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment functionality, promptly report faults, and keep up-to-date service and maintenance logs.
- Contribute to the creation and upkeep of ultrasound standard operating procedures (SOPs), competency frameworks, and best practice guidelines within the team.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Postgraduate certification in obstetrics and/or gynecology ultrasound.
- A minimum of three years experience post-qualification.
- Valid registration with NMC, HCPC, or Voluntary Sonographers Register.
- Experience with obstetric scanning, including 3D, wellbeing, prenatal, and early pregnancy scans.
- Proficiency in gynecological scanning.
- Background working in fertility or reproductive healthcare environments.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counselling abilities.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Expertise in advanced fertility ultrasound techniques.
- Experience participating in audit, quality improvements, or service development projects.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior clinical personnel.
